Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is an indigenous non-governmental organization that promotes socio-economic development by supporting a broad range of global health interventions, education and economic initiatives in Nigeria. AHNi is an allied organization to Family Health International (FHI360) with co-existing and mutually supportive interest in advancing the collective goals of the people and communities served. AHNi currently has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

To strengthen our operations and interventions in the country, we are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Technical Officer-HIV/Hypertension.

ASSISTANT TECHNICAL OFFICER-HIV/HYPERTENSION: will provide technical and programmatic support to the delivery of the Hypertension-HIV services at the facility and community level. S/He will support in the implementation of components related to clinical management of hypertension and integrated medical services guided by strategies and approaches related to the implementation programs at the state level. Also, s/he will provide technical and programmatic support to implement high quality care and support activities in supported health facilities in collaboration with the appropriate GoN stakeholders, ensuring timely and adequate documentation. Assist in conducting routine monitoring visits to project sites, conduct Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) using official tools, assist in the preparation of monthly reports, and provide supportive supervision.

Minimum Recruitment Standard 

  • MB.BS or similar degree with minimum of 1-year relevant experience in clinical care with a sound understanding of HIV/AIDS with provision of PMTCT, TB and anti-retroviral therapy (ART) in resource constrained settings.
  • BSc. Nursing, Public health, Pharmacy or other closely related field with 1-3 years relevant experience.
  • BS/BA in statistics, pharmacy, microbiology, monitoring and evaluation or in relevant degree with 1 – 3 years relevant experience in Monitoring and Evaluation or data management.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health systems and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.

Job Title: Technical Officer – HIV / Hypertension

Loaction: Akwa Ibom

Job Description

  • Will provide the programmatic coordination and technical direction to the delivery of the hypertension-HIV integration project activities in Akwa Ibom State including design, implementation, training, supervision, and monitoring of project activities.
  • S/He will interact with site program managers, key stakeholders in SMoH, SASCP, SACA, LACA, other implementing agencies, and local research groups to advance project objectives, develop policies, and design context-specific strategies to improve the integration of hypertension services into routine HIV care and treatment activities and support capacity development of healthcare workers on Hypertension/HIV services, including developing a training curriculum/IECs/SOPs on hypertension.

Minimum Recruitment Standard 

  • MB.BS/MD/Ph.D or similar degree with 1 to 3 years of progressive relevant experience in managing comprehensive HIV programs in resource-constrained settings.
  • Or MPH or MS/MA in relevant degree with 3 to 5 years of progressive relevant experience in managing comprehensive TB and HIV programs in resource-constrained settings.
  • Or B.Sc/BA in pharmacy, microbiology, health sciences, monitoring and evaluation, public health, or in relevant degree with 5 to 7 years of progressive relevant experience in managing comprehensive TB and HIV programs in resource-constrained settings.
  • Experience in project development with proven experience in the planning and facilitation of training is required.
  • Experience in large and complex donor-funded national health-focused projects is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health systems and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.

Job Description

  • Will drive program monitoring towards meeting the project objectives by supporting technical teams to document, monitor and track changes in implementation.
  • S/He will provide technical support to sites in the state, including interacting with site Program Managers, M&E focal points, M&E officers of SACA/SASCP, other Implementing Agencies and local research groups on needs and ensuring that these parties understand and can support the reporting requirements.
  • Conduct routine monitoring visits to project sites, including the conduct of data quality assessments (DQAs) using official tools, assist in the preparation of monthly reports, and provide supportive supervision and ensure that the quality of program/project activities adheres to SOPs by supporting the development and implementation of appropriate mechanisms to ensure quality.

Job Description

  • Will be responsible for the provision of administrative and logistical services to the Finance directorate.
  • S/He will support AHNi State Office as backup through periodic finance review visits to the supported State Office as may be required, assist with the preparation of bank reconciliation statements for other accounts as may be assigned by supervisor, receive and review all payment request from staff and vendors to ensure completeness of support documentation.
  • Also, s/he will prepare and upload all approved payment request to the online payment portal (GTB GAPs), prepare payment vouchers and request form for management approval, track advances to staff and ensure prompt retirement and perform other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Recruitment Standard

  • University Degree or a recognized equivalent with 1-2 years’ experience
  • Familiarity with administrative and secretarial skills is an advantage
  • Familiarity with international NGOs is an advantage
  • Experience with large complex organization preferred

Job Title: Senior Technical Advisor – Prevention, Care & Treatment

  • Will provide technical and managerial leadership (thematic lead) in the provision of quality HIV prevention (including PrEP), treatment, care and reproductive/family planning services.

Minimum Recruitment Standard

  • MB.BS / MD / PHD or similar degree with 7 to 9 years experience working in health or development field in Nigeria with at least 5 years progressive experience working in the PEPFAR HIV response
  • Possession of an MPH or post graduate clinical or public health degree is required
  • Proven experience in project development, planning and facilitating technical training; with extensive knowledge and skills for application of Differentiated Models of Care appropriate for situations and the ability to constitute and deploy competent surge teams to implement catchups.
  • Ability to analyze and use site level granular data to identify gaps, develop and deploy remedial actions plans to improve services delivery
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health system and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.
  • Clinical management and training experience and ability to understand full range of issues around the clinical management of HIV/AIDS, including provision of ART
